why is it called sugar diabetes
Although Sugar Diabetes is a term used today to describe diabetes, it is based on a popular diabetes myth that is circulating through the diabetes world.
The myth goes along the lines that Diabetes is caused by eating too much sugar in our diet and the sugar we are talking about here is the table kind found on everyday grocery shelves, thus the sugar disease.
I can see where the sugar diabetes myth originated from, most of the good myths are predicated on some truths. Diabetes is a disease where the body fails to synthesize Glucose which is a form of sugar correctly, now this sugar is produced from the body’s digestion process.
The glucose our body makes does not necessarily come from table sugar, which means that you will not have a higher level of glucose if you eat more sugar than you would have if you eat let say bread.
In the Digestion process, the carbohydrates injected are converted into glucose which the body burns as fuel to create energy.
In diabetes synthesizing this glucose becomes a problem that builds up in the blood stream causing hyperglycemia and thus the Sugar Diabetes reference.
